At the very least 16 folks have suffered minor accidents after a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthis landed in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli army confirmed that it didn’t intercept a ballistic missile launched from Yemen early Saturday. The projectile landed within the Tel Aviv-Jaffa space, in response to Israeli emergency providers.
The Iran-aligned Houthi motion in Yemen claimed accountability for the assault, stating it was a “hypersonic ballistic missile” named “Palestine 2” that struck its supposed “army goal” in Jaffa.
Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the Houthis, declared in a televised handle that the missile hit its goal with precision, bypassing Israel’s superior protection techniques.
The Israeli ambulance service reported treating 16 people for minor accidents, together with shrapnel wounds. Among the injured had been transported to hospitals for additional therapy. No fatalities have been reported.
The Houthis framed the assault as retaliation towards what they described as Israeli “massacres” in Gaza and “aggression” towards Yemen. Saree added that the missile strike was a continuation of Yemen’s solidarity with Palestinians amid the continuing Israeli army operations in Gaza.
Palestinian factions praised the missile strike. The Well-liked Resistance Committees, a coalition of Palestinian armed teams, stated the assault revealed the “fragility” of Israel’s protection techniques. “The strike demonstrates the lack of the Zionist regime to confront Yemeni missiles,” the group said on Telegram, including that Yemen’s actions confuse Israeli army methods and undermine its perceived safety dominance.
The missile assault comes days after Israel carried out strikes focusing on ports and power services in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. Israeli officers had warned of additional army motion towards the Yemeni group, citing the Houthis’ repeated missile and drone launches towards Israel.
This newest strike underscores the Houthis’ rising position in regional conflicts. The group has overtly aligned itself with Palestinian armed factions, describing its assaults as a part of a broader resistance towards Israel.
