Magical Wildlife Encounters
Australia is famous for its diverse and abundant wildlife, and we were lucky to encounter wild koalas right on the first day at the Eyre Peninsula. We barely walked 100 meters after stepping off the car before spotting these cuddly creatures in their natural habitat.

The Mikkira Wild Koala Park, located south of Lincoln National Park, is home to over 200 wild koalas that live peacefully in the eucalyptus trees. These solitary animals spend most of their lives resting in trees, with very little time spent feeding. Due to their fixed nesting spots, finding them isn’t too difficult, making it a perfect spot for wildlife lovers.

The park was established more than a century ago, providing a sanctuary where these adorable creatures live carefree, much like their ancestors. It’s a must-visit for animal enthusiasts, especially families. Australia has very few places where you can actually hold a koala, and South Australia is one of those rare regions.

Besides Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island, Adelaide and its surroundings are also home to a number of wildlife sanctuaries like the Adelaide Zoo, Cleland Wildlife Park, and Monarto Zoo. Some of these parks focus on rescue and rehabilitation, such as the Gorge Wildlife Park, where visitors can interact with rescued animals and learn about conservation efforts.

At Penfolds Magill Estate, located just 15 minutes from Adelaide, you can tour the cellars, which include some of the most famous wines, such as the Penfolds Grange. Visitors can even descend 14 meters underground to witness the historic legacy of the Grange series.

Barossa is also home to the historic Shapira Winery, founded in 1851. Known for its centuries-old wine collection, it preserves every year’s vintage from 1878 onward. Walking through the oak barrel cellars feels like stepping back in time. One of the highlights is finding a bottle of port from the year of your birth.

Sea and Desert: Australia’s Natural Wonders
Eyre Peninsula, famous for its stunning coastline and pristine beaches, is quickly becoming a top destination for travelers to South Australia. One of the best experiences here is at Coffin Bay Oyster Farm, where you can don waterproof boots and harvest oysters directly from the sea. Once gathered, the oysters are shucked and served fresh in a floating bar on the water.
