Belmond Andean Explorer
The Belmond Andean Explorer train, which has been in operation since 2017 in Peru’s magnificent Andes Mountains, is South America’s first luxury sleeper train and one of the highest railway routes in the world, traveling through breathtaking scenery at an elevation of 4800 meters. This route not only connects two UNESCO World Heritage cities — Cusco and Arequipa — but also offers a marvelous journey through the marks of Peru’s two great civilizations: the Inca civilization and the natural beauty of the Andes.
A Moving Landscape Painting
The Belmond Andean Explorer takes passengers through the natural canvas of the South American continent, from snow-capped peaks to shimmering lakes, to herds of alpacas and llamas on the highlands. The train passes by the Andean people’s “sacred lake” — Lake Titicaca, where travelers can enjoy a romantic sunrise from the train or disembark to explore the natural beauty and ancient civilizations.
A Luxury Hotel on Wheels
The train consists of 16 carriages, designed with modern elegance, including sleeping, observation, bar, spa, and dining cars, accommodating up to 70 passengers. The interiors are cozy and comfortable, featuring grey-white wood paneling and linen Roman blinds, complemented by locally sourced textiles and artworks with vibrant, bold colors, creating a feast for the senses.
It offers three types of accommodations: suites, twin-bed cabins, and bunk-bed cabins, each meticulously designed to ensure a comfortable experience for passengers.
The dining car uses fresh local ingredients to prepare authentic Andean cuisine, complementing the natural beauty outside the windows for a dual delight of visual and taste experiences.
