Let’s Clarify Some Geographical Knowledge, First Understand The Commonly Mentioned Locations: Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, Semporna.

Sabah is a state in East Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah, its official name being Kota Kinabalu, while Semporna is a district in the south of Sabah where flight prices are not expensive during the off-season.

Unlike the crowded Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, Taman Dream Island, 6 kilometers northeast of Gaya Island, was once so hidden that it went unnoticed, until recent years when it began to be developed for tourism.

The dense tropical rainforest covers most of the island’s land, the beach area is small but relaxing is no problem, you can stroll on the white sand, snorkel, swim freely, and there are plenty of water activities like parachutes, flying fish, seabed walking, jet skis, etc.

Mermaid Island

Located 80 kilometers northeast of Kota Kinabalu, originally named “Mantanani”, it was affectionately called Mermaid Island because of the sightings of wild dugongs (commonly known as “mermaids”) in the nearby waters.

The island boasts enchanting tail beaches, mysterious caves, and the clear turquoise waters essential for any island escape, making it an unforgettable island memory for sure.

Here, you can experience diving, immerse in the dreamy underwater world, explore the mysterious underwater world, play with clownfish, and take photos on a sea kayak. At dusk, the sky is covered with a red glow, and every shot is a masterpiece of sunset.

Firefly River Mangrove

A must-visit in Kota Kinabalu, the mangroves are one of them. During the day, you can search for the tracks of the Malaysian national treasure, the proboscis monkey, and at night, you can experience a grand display of fireflies.

Mount Kinabalu

Mount Kinabalu, also known as Kinabalu Mountain, with an elevation of 4095 meters, is the most prominent landmark on the island of Borneo. Locals regard it as a divine place where souls go after death, hence the name “Sacred Mountain.” It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2000, the first for Malaysia.

The classic activities on the mountain include hiking, paragliding, and visiting ranches… The highland ranch is dotted with cows and sheep, allowing for close encounters, and you can feed the calves and lambs at your own expense, and taste pure natural highland ranch ice cream.

Poring Hot Springs are located 43 kilometers northeast of Mount Kinabalu Park, where the sulfur hot springs help alleviate muscle soreness caused by climbing Mount Kinabalu and long-distance trekking.

The tree-top canopy walk in the Poring Hot Springs area, nearly 160 meters long and 41 meters high, consists of 5 sections that can only allow one person to pass at a time, offering a thrilling experience with each step.

Kinarut River

Situated at the foot of Mount Kinabalu, in the second most beautiful village in Malaysia, Kinarut Village, the river has a rapid current, with a 15 km long river course, making it the longest white-water rafting in Sabah, very safe and suitable for all ages.

Floating Mosque

Also known as Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, although it’s a very young contemporary Islamic architecture, it has become one of the most popular attractions in Kota Kinabalu due to its unique water-surrounded layout.

Pudu Temple

Upon entering, you can see the huge standing statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. In front of the temple’s mountain gate, there are white jade stone sculptures of fairies, showcasing high artistic value, depicting the image of Chinese ladies, and even the building materials are imported from China.
