The Great Homemade Ice Pop Battle: Summer’s Secret Weapon

Why bother making ice pops at home when you can just buy them at the convenience store?

First, take a look at my homemade ice pops below, made with fruit, yogurt, and some with soda water. Just their appearance alone is enough to make you feel an overwhelming sense of happiness.

This year, I put in extra effort to research the ingredients, creating seven different flavors: three fruit soda pops, three fruit yogurt pops, and one homemade Dream Bar, all incredibly delicious.

As the ice pops catch the light, the frost melts away, revealing their transparency. The abundant fruit flavor, mixed with soda water and yogurt, isn’t overly sweet but has a hint of tartness, making even the hottest summer day feel like a cool breeze has just passed. After this, you’ll experience the following sense of joy.

Is it the summer that makes me look forward to ice pops,
or the ice pops that make me look forward to summer?

Peach Soda Pop
A love-like flavor, sweet yet with a hint of tartness.

1、Blanch one peach in boiling water for 2 minutes, then transfer to ice water for 2 minutes to peel. Cut the flesh into small 1.5 cm cubes.
*This recipe makes 2 peach pops.

2、Layer the mold with 4 peach cubes, then a mint leaf, followed by 5 more peach cubes, and fill with soda water to 9/10 full. Freeze in the fridge for at least 6 hours.

Green Grape Soda Pop
The refreshing taste of frozen green grapes is the spokesperson for coolness.

1、Soak mint leaves in mineral water in advance; wash and halve green grapes, removing the seeds.

2、Layer the mold with half a grape, a mint leaf, then 2 and a half grapes, and fill with soda water to 9/10 full. Freeze in the fridge for at least 6 hours.
*This recipe makes 2 green grape pops.

Pineapple Soda Pop
Like adolescence, wanting to rebel with its sournessyet still sweet.

1、Prepare pineapple by washing, peeling, removing the core, and slicing.

2、Layer the mold with 3 slices of pineapple, a mint leaf, then 3 more slices, and fill with soda water to 9/10 full. Freeze in the fridge for at least 6 hours.
*This recipe makes 2 pineapple pops.

Dragon Fruit Yogurt Pop
In its mildness, you can taste a full burst of energy.

1、Prepare a red dragon fruit by washing, peeling, and slicing. Place 4-5 slices into the ice cream mold, then fill with yogurt to 9/10 full (be careful not to overfill as the yogurt will expand when frozen).
*This recipe makes 2 dragon fruit yogurt pops.

2、Freeze for at least 6 hours. When removing, dip the mold in cold water for a moment to ease removal.

Mango Yogurt Pop
Each bite brings you one step closer to sweetness.

1、Blend one peeled mango with 100ml of water and 25g of fine sugar into a puree.

2、Layer the mold with yogurt to 5/10 full, then add the mango puree to 9/10 full, cover, insert the stick, and freeze for at least 6 hours. You can slightly thaw in cold water to remove.
*This recipe makes 2 mango yogurt pops.

Raspberry Yogurt Pop
It feels like you’ve just experienced a pink snowstorm.

1、Mash 12 raspberries in a small bowl, then mix with 160ml of yogurt and 25g of fine sugar (or icing sugar).

2、Fill the ice cream mold with the raspberry-yogurt mixture to 9/10 full, and freeze for 6 hours before removing.
*This recipe makes 2 raspberry yogurt pops.

Homemade Dream Bar

1、Mix 50g of milk with 15g of cornstarch (the cornstarch will prevent ice crystals and give a smoother texture), set aside.

2、Heat 150g of milk in a pot over medium-low heat until it starts to bubble, then reduce to low heat. While stirring, slowly pour in the milk-cornstarch mixture, stir until smooth, then remove from heat and set aside.
*Be sure to keep the heat low; if you can’t control it, boil the milk and then turn off the heat. Pour in the milk-cornstarch mixture while stirring, and keep stirring for about 15 seconds after adding.

3、Whip 200g of light cream with 15g of sugar until you see traces, then add the milk mixture and whip for another 10 seconds. Add 40g of condensed milk, whip for another 10 seconds, pour into molds, and freeze for at least 6 hours.
*This recipe makes 6 Dream Bars.

4、Melt 1000g of chocolate (7% cocoa content) in a deep container over a double boiler, sprinkle with crushed peanuts, and set aside.
*The container should be deep enough to fully coat the ice cream.

5、Coat the frozen ice cream with the melted chocolate.
*The ice cream is cold, so the chocolate will set quickly. Make sure to coat in one go without re-dipping.

Is it the summer that makes me look forward to ice pops,
or the ice pops that make me look forward to summer?
