Satay Beef Pot: The Recipe That Turns You into a Kitchen Pro

The Magic of Satay Beef

If you’re looking for a dish that’s both impressive and easy to make, look no further than this Satay Beef Pot. The first time I tried making it, I used satay sauce from a Chaoshan hot pot delivery, and the aroma alone stunned my family. Since then, I’ve perfected this recipe, and while it may not match the skill of a seasoned chef, it’s more than enough to satisfy your cravings at home.

Ingredients You’ll Need

To make this dish, you’ll need:

  • ·300g beef tenderloin, sliced
  • ·3 pieces of dried tofu skin
  • ·1 tbsp Chaoshan-style satay sauce (plus extra for the sauce)
  • ·1/5 tsp salt
  • ·1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ·1/5 tsp white pepper
  • ·1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • ·2 tbsp cornstarch
  • ·1 tbsp cooking oil
  • ·5 cloves garlic, sliced
  • ·5 slices ginger
  • ·200ml water
  • ·A handful of cilantro (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Tofu Skin
Break the dried tofu skin into small pieces and soak them in 2000ml of warm water (about 40°C) with 1 tbsp white vinegar and 1 tbsp salt for 10 minutes.

2. Marinate the Beef
Slice the beef tenderloin and marinate it with 1 tbsp satay sauce, 1/5 tsp salt, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1/5 tsp white pepper, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and 2 tbsp cornstarch. Mix well, then add 1 tbsp cooking oil to seal in the flavors. Let it marinate for 20 minutes, and mix again before cooking.

3. Make the Satay Sauce
Mix 1 tbsp satay sauce with 200ml water and set aside.

4. Cook the Dish
Heat a pot over medium heat and add 1 tbsp cooking oil. Sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant.
Layer the soaked tofu skin at the bottom of the pot, then place the marinated beef on top. Pour the satay sauce mixture over the beef, cover the pot, and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.

5. Garnish and Serve
Before serving, sprinkle with cilantro if desired. The beef will be tender and flavorful, while the tofu skin absorbs all the delicious sauce. Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.

This Satay Beef Pot is not only easy to make but also packed with rich, savory flavors. The combination of tender beef, soft tofu skin, and aromatic satay sauce makes it a crowd-pleaser. Whether it’s a family dinner or a cozy night in, this dish is sure to impress.
