Mysterious Fog Spreads Across the U.S. – People Worried About Chemical Attacks

Mysterious Fog Spreads Across the U.S. – People Worried About Chemical Attacks

Recently, a heavy fog has been spreading across the U.S., raising concerns among Americans. The fog, which has lasted for several days, has caused alarm. It is not just any fog, but one that comes with a strange, chemical-like smell.

Fog in Florida

David Bamber from Florida shared his experience. He described the fog as being thick, which severely limited visibility on the streets. There was also a strange chemical odor lingering in the air. The fog looked white and dense, creating an eerie atmosphere.

Montana’s Strange Fog

In Montana, Sarah Smith also posted a video. Even though it was snowing, a massive, blurry fog was visible in the air. It smelled like burning plastic. Many people in the area reported similar experiences.

Massachusetts Fog

A Massachusetts resident shared a photo showing white fog particles. Under the light, they looked like raindrops drifting in the air. The strange fog seemed to float across the ground, giving a surreal feeling.

A Scary Experience in Florida

A Florida resident also spoke out. They described how they began to cough and feel feverish after just 10 minutes near a gas station. They started sneezing soon after, with their eyes swelling up. Within an hour, they began to feel flu-like symptoms, and their stomach started cramping.

Kansas Fog Concerns

In Kansas, a local woman shared her worry. She mentioned that the area had been experiencing thick fog for nearly a week. She suspected it might be related to “chemical trails” from an experiment or some unknown source.

California’s Unusual Fog

A Californian also expressed their unease on social media. They described the fog as unusual and persistent. The air smelled strange, and they had noticed it for several months. It felt like an attack from the sky.

Fog in Canada and the UK

Not only in the U.S. but even in parts of Canada and the UK, reports of similar fogs have been circulating. This raised even more concerns, as the fog appeared to have a significant chemical smell. Why was this strange fog appearing in both the UK and North America?

Public Skepticism

Despite the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a fog advisory, many people weren’t convinced. A popular theory among netizens was that the fog was somehow linked to a covert operation. They wondered if the U.S. citizens were being used as “guinea pigs” in a chemical experiment.

The “Operation Sea-Spray” Incident

This theory was connected to a mysterious event that occurred back in 1950. On September 20th, a strange fog, mixed with a chemical odor, suddenly covered San Francisco. Even parts of the Golden Gate Bridge were obscured by the fog. The fog persisted for a week, and many local residents began to fall ill.

On October 11th, 11 residents who were severely ill visited Stanford Hospital for treatment. They were diagnosed with a rare infection caused by the Serratia marcescens bacteria. After treatment, 10 recovered, but one man, Edward Nevin, passed away.

The Bizarre Bacteria

This rare bacteria, Serratia marcescens, was not highly lethal but was rarely seen in North America. Doctors struggled to understand where it came from. After months of investigation, the surprising truth emerged. The U.S. military had intentionally released this bacteria into the air.

The Truth Behind the Fog

In 1977, during a Senate hearing, it was revealed that the U.S. Navy had carried out a secret biological warfare experiment in 1950. Codenamed “Operation Sea-Spray,” the U.S. Navy had released Serratia marcescens along with other substances, including anthrax simulants, into the atmosphere. They released these agents off the coast of San Francisco.

The military monitored 43 locations in the city, and it was discovered that over 800,000 residents had inhaled these harmful particles. The “poisoning” operation lasted for several days. As for the 11 cases of illness and the one death, it remains unclear whether it was a result of the experiment.

History of Military Experiments

From 1949 to 1969, the U.S. military conducted 239 open-air biological warfare experiments. These experiments led to civilian sicknesses and deaths. All of these experiments were authorized by high-ranking military officials.

One such experiment took place in 1966. Researchers released pathogenic bacteria in New York’s subway system to test the spread of Bacillus anthracis spores. During rush hour, the pathogens infected many residents, and several people fell ill or died as a result. The goal of these experiments was to assess how large U.S. cities would respond to biological attacks.

Public Fears and Skepticism

Because of this history of using the public as “test subjects,” Americans are rightfully concerned about the fog. They are wondering if the current fog is part of a new experiment. The National Weather Service, however, quickly responded to the rumors. They stated that the fog particles were simply pollutants in the air, made visible by the light. The “chemical smell” was caused by the fog absorbing pollutants like vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions.

The NWS explained that sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and other pollutants become trapped in the fog’s water molecules. These pollutants stay suspended in the air, giving off the chemical smell that many people noticed. This was indeed a rare occurrence, but the NWS assured the public that it was a natural phenomenon, not a conspiracy.

Conclusion

Though the fog might be a natural event, the concern about its potential chemical origins remains high. It’s a reminder that the public is still wary of secret government experiments. As of now, the fog remains a mystery to many, but the authorities have asked the public to stay calm. There’s no evidence to suggest any sinister activity behind this unusual weather phenomenon.
