Vendors selling flower lamps add to the beautiful spectacle along the Ganges. You can send your own illuminated lamp drifting down the river, with a silent prayer, hoping that the Ganges will hear your wishes and offer some solace to the traveler within.

A primary reason to visit Varanasi is to witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti and the sunrise over the river. Seeing a floating body in the Ganges is not a common occurrence, so do not expect to encounter one.
