Jiuzhaigou
The Jiuzhaigou Valley boasts a vast area with significant altitude variations, resulting in exceptionally rich plant biodiversity. In autumn, the landscape is a breathtaking tapestry of snow-capped peaks, vibrant forests ablaze with fall colors, and crystal-clear azure lakes reflecting the sky. It’s often cited as one of China’s most beautiful autumn scenes, a real-life “autumn fairytale.”
Huanglong
Known as the “Fairy Pond of the World,” Huanglong is celebrated for its “eight wonders”: snow-capped mountains, canyons, forests, travertine pools, ancient temples, folk customs, and orchids. In the fall, Huanglong is especially stunning as the colorful forests compete with the vibrant pools for attention.
Mount Siguniang
Mount Siguniang embraces autumn with a lively and vibrant spirit. The foliage of the surrounding mountains displays a diverse range of hues, dotting the landscape. Bathed in sunlight and set against the backdrop of distant snow-capped peaks, the scene looks like a vivid and dramatic oil painting. Exploring the Changping Valley, Shuangqiao Valley, and Haizi Valley offers stunning, immersive views of the autumn scenery at Mount Siguniang. 
Dagu Glacier
Situated in the core area of Heishui County, within “Asia’s largest colorful forest and red leaf tourist zone,” the Dagu Glacier presents a rich spectrum of colors, a superb combination of glacier and autumn foliage, an extended viewing season, and a captivating blend of forests and Tibetan villages. The vibrant foliage transitions through different hues across varying altitudes, creating the astonishing sight of glaciers and autumn forests existing side by side.
Naizigou
Naizigou is one of China’s largest developed and open areas for admiring autumn foliage, earning the nickname “Eighty-Li Gallery.” The vibrant forests stretch for over forty kilometers (eighty li), creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.
Jinchuan Red Leaf Valley
The Jinchuan red leaves are an unparalleled sight. Along the Dajinchuan River Valley, a million pear trees turn brilliant shades of red, covering the entire valley in a tapestry of vibrant colors. The core scenic area of the 10,000-mu pear flower red leaf zone in Sha’er Township and Ge’er Township of Jinchuan County is the best spot in the whole area for viewing red leaves.
Mi’yaluo Scenic Area
The name “Mi’yaluo” translates from Tibetan to “Fun Dam.” The Mi’yaluo Red Leaf Scenic Area is one of China’s largest and most visually stunning red leaf areas. The scenic area features undulating mountains and pleasant scenery. In the autumn, the leaves on both sides of the river turn into beautiful shades of crimson and gold, creating a colorful forest canvas.
Bipenggou
Bipenggou is a well-known destination in western Sichuan for viewing autumn foliage. The colorful forests arrive early, cover a large area, remain for a long time, and feature a wide variety of species. Glaciers, forests, meadows, and alpine lakes come together to form the beauty of Bipenggou.
Shenxianchi
Located not far from Jiuzhaigou, Shenxianchi is also known as Nen’ensangcuo, which means “the place where fairies bathe.” Here, unique, layered travertine slopes and pools resemble pearls, agates, and coral, earning its title as “the fairy realm.”
Mounigou
Hidden deep within the mountains, Mounigou boasts numerous unique sights. The remnants of fallen tree trunks within the lakes and the effects of calcification at the bottom of the water create a rich palette of colors. In the autumn, the colorful forests of Mounigou begin to compete for attention, and the numerous lakes within seem to embody the saying, “Lakes hidden in the forest, flowers blooming in the lake,” creating a truly enchanting scene.
Majiagou
Majiagou is rich in vegetation, which changes with altitude. The landscape includes forests, flowers, alpine lakes, waterfalls, and the romantic red maples in autumn, creating a beautiful painting of nature.
Algou
As a hidden gem in Wenchuan, Algou is a relatively lesser-known destination, but its autumn colors are just as beautiful as anywhere else. In the fall, the foliage of the mountains begins to change color, and the forest displays a vibrant kaleidoscope of hues, a picturesque scene in every direction.
Songpinggou
Songpinggou is a renowned scenic area within Sichuan for viewing colorful autumn foliage. Every fall, the mountains are painted red by the colorful forests that stretch for several kilometers. The forests, set against the backdrop of the blue sky, and the lakes form a colorful and multi-layered landscape.
Mengtun River Valley
Snow-capped mountains, meadows, glaciers, pristine forests, and wildlife await you in the Mengtun River Valley, taking you straight into a fairytale world! As the autumn breeze arrives, the valley is filled with a striking contrast of lush green pines and red autumn leaves, shrouded in mist and fog, a truly captivating sight.
Suomo River Grand Canyon
The Suomo River Grand Canyon is 91 kilometers long with a vertical drop of 890 meters. The steep cliffs and lush vegetation on both sides create a scene resembling a colorful oil painting in the autumn, with an awe-inspiring sense of grandeur.
Jiawu Lake
Jiawu Lake, located within Wujiao Township of Jiuzhaigou County, features colorful forests alongside pristine lakes. Autumn winds and leaves dance together, with the forest colors as radiant as a sunset cloud. It truly is a place of vibrant hues and varied landscapes.
