The Most Unsuccessful Bank Robber: 6 Heists in 5 Days for Just 605 Dollars

A Bold Crime Spree Begins

Bank Robbery story of a man who hit 6 banks in 5 days but escaped with just $605, turning crime into a bizarre failure.Recently, a 33-year-old American man named Gustavo DeJesus Torres carried out a bizarre سلسلة of bank robberies. Within just five days, he targeted six different banks.

At first glance, Gustavo seemed like a daring and reckless criminal. However, his incredibly poor results quickly turned him into an object of public amusement.

The First Attempt Ends in Failure

Around 12:30 p.m. on March 13, Gustavo entered a branch of JPMorgan Chase located in Queens, New York.

He handed a note to the teller. The message warned that someone would get hurt if money was not handed over. The note did not mention any weapon.

Perhaps his approach lacked urgency or intimidation. In the end, he walked away empty-handed.

A Quick Retry Pays Off

Just 30 minutes later, Gustavo appeared at another JPMorgan Chase branch in Jackson Heights, also in Queens.

Using the same method, he handed over a threatening note. This time, he managed to get away with 320 dollars. He quickly fled the scene and disappeared.

More Attempts, Mixed Results

Clearly, 320 dollars was not enough.

The next day, March 14, at around 12:30 p.m., Gustavo struck again. This time, he targeted a branch in Brooklyn.

Once again, he used a note to threaten the teller. He successfully took 265 dollars and left on foot. His whereabouts remained unknown.

Later that same day, he tried another bank in Brooklyn. This attempt failed completely. He got nothing.

A Short Break, Then Back to Crime

After taking two days off, Gustavo returned on March 17. It was just after 10 a.m.

He entered a branch in Harlem, New York. The method remained unchanged. He handed over a note and demanded money.

This time, the result was almost absurd. He managed to get only 20 dollars. He then walked away and vanished again.

On the same day, he attempted another robbery in the Bronx. Once again, he failed.

Six Robberies, Minimal Gains

In total, Gustavo robbed six banks in five days. He succeeded three times and failed three times.

Remarkably, no one was injured during any of the incidents.

Across his three successful robberies, he collected 320 dollars, 265 dollars, and 20 dollars. Altogether, that adds up to just 605 dollars.

A Repeat Offender

Police investigations revealed that Gustavo had a criminal history. He was arrested in 2024 for robbing a bank in Midtown Manhattan. He had only been released the previous month.

Authorities also suspect he may have been involved in a similar case back in 2021.

In that earlier report, a man with the same name robbed a JPMorgan Chase branch. He used a note claiming he was fully armed. He was later arrested at his home in New Jersey.

The similarities are striking. The same bank. The same method. Yet after several years, his technique showed little improvement. His failure rate remained as high as 50 percent.

Surveillance Images and Ongoing Search

Police have now released surveillance images of Gustavo and are actively searching for him.

In one photo, he stands on a subway platform holding a cup of coffee. Headphones hang around his neck. His expression looks frustrated.

According to reports, the image was taken shortly after one of his failed robbery attempts.

A Criminal Story Unlike Any Other

This strange case has drawn widespread attention. Gustavo’s actions were bold, yet strangely ineffective.

Instead of fear, his crimes have sparked disbelief and even laughter.

In the long history of bank robberies in New York, he may be remembered not for his success, but for his spectacular lack of it.
