Buium earned Nationwide Collegiate Hockey Convention (NCHC) Second All-Star Crew honors final season after setting NCAA career-highs in objectives (seven), assists (29), factors (36) and video games (43) on the College of Denver, serving to the Pioneers seize their second NCAA Division 1 nationwide championship in three years.
The No. 36 decide of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Buium stated he made key strides throughout his time on the College of Denver.
“I feel I’ve gotten so much higher defensively,” Buium stated. “You study new issues yearly. I prefer to be a sponge, simply take all of it in. Good protection simply generates extra offense for me. I prefer to be on the offensive aspect of issues, and taking part in good protection helps with that.”
Buium stated he rapidly seen the elevated competitors on the AHL stage final season.
“I used to be already in playoff hockey within the NCAA, so I might say (the AHL) is comparable in that model of play,” the younger defenseman stated. “I simply suppose guys are most likely sooner, stronger and smarter.”
