“Ranging from P16 with a McLaren and a Pink Bull behind, it was all the time going to be tough,” he admitted. “We did an excellent job, I feel we maximised what we had this weekend. The qualifying was very powerful for us, the automotive was not in an excellent place and we have been scuffling with the rear.
“This monitor, rear overheats a lot when you’ve got a stability like that, and after a slide in T3, a snap in 4, 5 and 6 and it was like a snowball for us in qualifying because the automotive was not within the candy spot. At the moment, we tried to maximise what we had.
“The instruments within the automotive, I feel we managed them very nicely within the race, we tried to do the most effective job we might to try to repair the stability.”
