Bharat Sanchar Nigam Restricted (BSNL), a state-run Indian telecom operator, has awarded RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigam Restricted) led consortium an almost Rs 5000 crore deal for growing the middle-mile community of BharatNet. The BharatNet mission is an initiative from the federal government below which the purpose is to attach all of the unconnected villages in India with high-speed broadband. This deal is for the third section of the BharatNet mission, which is now BSNL’s duty.
BSNL and Bharat Broadband Community Restricted (BBNL) had been merged. BBNL is the entity that was tasked with implementing the BharatNet mission by the federal government. When BBNL and BSNL had been merged, BSNL obtained the duty of operating the mission effectively.

In a launch to the inventory exchanges, RVNL mentioned, “it’s hereby knowledgeable that Rail Vikas Nigam Restricted – HFCL Restricted – Aerial Telecom Options Pvt. Ltd. Consortium emerges because the Lowest Bidder (L1) from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Restricted (BSNL) for “improvement (creation, upgradation and operation and upkeep) of middle-mile community of BharatNet on Design Construct Function and Preserve (DBOM) Mannequin.”
HFCL, STL, Polycab, Pratap Applied sciences, Telecommunications Consultants of India (TCIL) and extra firms had submitted their bids for the mission. The section 3 of the BharatNet mission is for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (west), Uttar Pradesh (east), Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Jammy and Kashmir, North East Area-1 and North East Area-2, and others.

The federal government had come out with an outlay of Rs 65,000 crore for phase-3 of the BharatNet mission and the final date to submit bids was August 6, 2024. With this connectivity mission, the federal government needs to finish the digital divide within the nation and provides equal alternatives to residents, no matter the place they’re residing. BSNL can also be rolling out cell websites in lots of rural areas funded by Digital Bharat Nidhi earlier generally known as USOF (Common Service Obligation Fund).
