WINDER, Ga. (AP) — Accidents have been reported after a faculty capturing at a Georgia highschool, which was placed on lockdown and college students gathered in its soccer stadium, the native sheriff’s workplace stated.
One suspect was in custody, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Workplace stated in a press release.
Shortly earlier than 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, “officers from a number of regulation enforcement businesses and Hearth/EMS personnel have been dispatched to the highschool in reference to a reported lively capturing,” the sheriff’s workplace assertion stated.
“Casualties have been reported. Particulars on the quantity or their situations is just not obtainable at the moment,” the assertion added.
Helicopter video from WSB-TV confirmed dozens of regulation enforcement and emergency autos surrounding Apalachee Excessive Faculty in Barrow County, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
In a press release, the FBI’s Atlanta workplace stated: “FBI Atlanta is conscious of the present scenario at Apalachee Excessive Faculty in Barrow County. Our brokers are on scene coordinating with and supporting native regulation enforcement.”
Calls and messages to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Workplace and the varsity weren’t instantly returned.
Apalachee Excessive Faculty has about 1,900 college students, based on information from Georgia schooling officers. It grew to become Barrow County’s second largest public highschool when it opened in 2000, based on the Barrow County Faculty System.
