Highlights from the poll, which was submitted to the Related Press on Saturday evening …
— Texas took excessive spot after the dominant victory at Michigan, which I view as barely extra spectacular than Georgia’s Week 1 win over Clemson in Atlanta. Clearly, the Bulldogs and Longhorns have been essentially the most spectacular groups so far.
The paucity of marquee inter-conference video games and losses by ranked groups resulted in solely minor modifications up and down the poll.
It was a reasonably quiet Week 2.
— Iowa State made its debut after the victory at Iowa and is one spot forward of the Hawkeye. I additionally ranked Boise State simply behind Oregon after the last-second loss in Eugene.
— Talking of the Geese: They dropped once more — from fourth in my preseason poll to tenth after the season opener to thirteenth this week. The decline displays two wobbly performances.
— Tennessee jumped from No. 21 final week to No. 10 on the poll under following the spectacular win at N.C. State, which I contemplate a mid-level ACC group (though I’m undecided what meaning given the state of play in that convention).
— Missouri dropped 5 spots, to No. 19, because the weak non-conference schedule compares much less favorably because the weeks unfold and different groups face harder competitors.
