The police and crime minister was robbed whereas attending a police convention, it has been revealed.
In a significant embarrassment, Dame Diana Johnson’s purse was stolen after she warned of an “epidemic of delinquent behaviour, theft and shoplifting”.
She had been talking on the annual convention of the Police Superintendents Affiliation at a lodge close to Kenilworth within the Midlands.
In a submit on X, she stated it had been a “pleasure” to be there.
She stated: “Now we have a mission to sort out severe crime, delinquent behaviour and restore neighbourhood policing. What I’ve seen in my brief time on this function has given me renewed confidence that we’ll succeed.”
The Residence Workplace confirmed that the minister had objects belonging to her stolen whereas on the convention.
In a press release, Warwickshire Police stated: “We’re investigating a report of the theft of a handbag at a lodge on the B4115 in Kenilworth.
“A 56-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of housebreaking and has since been launched on bail whereas enquiries proceed.”
