IZU, Sep 19 (Information On Japan) –
The Japan Meteorological Company has issued an eruption alert for Sumisu Island within the Izu Islands, following the detection of discolored water in July.
In line with the Meteorological Company, on the 18th, an aerial survey carried out by the Japan Coast Guard confirmed a discolored water space stretching roughly 1,800 meters from the northwest to the north coast of Sumisu Island.
In July, an identical discolored water space had been confirmed extending about 300 meters from the island’s east coast. The current statement marks a continuation of the July anomaly, with the discolored space increasing, prompting the company to concern the eruption alert at 11:00 a.m. on the 18th.
Authorities are warning of potential underwater volcanic exercise across the island, in addition to the opportunity of floating particles comparable to pumice ensuing from the eruption.
That is the primary time an eruption alert has been issued for Sumisu Island since observations started.
Moreover, the Japan Coast Guard has issued a navigation warning for close by waters, urging ships within the space to train warning.
