The pinnacle of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Company (SMPA) stated Monday his company was investigating 74 deepfake crime suspects on fees of making or distributing faux pornographic movies on the messaging app Telegram.
SMPA Commissioner Kim Bong-sik made the remarks in a gathering with reporters, saying his company created a particular process power late final month to intensively crack down on deepfake porn crimes.
“At the moment, 126 instances are beneath investigation, and 74 suspects have been recognized,” Kim stated.
The suspects are principally of their teenagers, accounting for 51 individuals of the full 74 (69 p.c), adopted by these of their 20s with 21 individuals (28 p.c), he stated, including the remaining two are of their 30s.
Relating to the company’s investigation into Telegram on suspicion of abetting the deepfake crimes, an SMPA official stated the required measures are being taken in cooperation with legislation enforcement authorities abroad. (Yonhap)
