Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly introduced on Monday that subsequent Sunday 6 October 2024 will probably be a paid public vacation for the private and non-private sectors in commemoration of the anniversary of the sixth of October Warfare.
The vacation applies to ministries, governmental our bodies, public amenities, municipalities, public enterprises, and corporations within the public enterprise sector. The personal sector, colleges, and universities may also observe the break day to mark the 51st anniversary.
The vacation honors Egypt’s Armed Forces Day, which commemorates the 1973 struggle when Egyptian troops launched a shock assault on Israeli forces occupying the Sinai Peninsula. On 6 October 1973, at 2:00PM Cairo time, Egyptian forces efficiently breached the closely fortified Bar Lev Line alongside the Suez Canal, forcing Israeli troops to retreat 15 kilometers eastward.
The struggle, which lasted for almost two weeks, marked a turning level within the Arab-Israeli battle, ultimately resulting in negotiations that culminated within the signing of the historic Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty in 1979. This treaty resulted within the full return of the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt, except Taba, which Egypt reclaimed by worldwide arbitration in 1989.
