Paris – French pork professionals concern being “the following on the record” and being topic to prohibitive tariffs by China, in battle with the European Union “within the title of vehicles,” stated the director of their group on Friday to AFP.
After cognac producers, who already must pay extra to be bought in China, “we all know we will probably be subsequent on the record,” laments Anne Richard, director of the Inaporc interprofession, which brings collectively breeders and processors.
“We’re handicapping the meals sectors within the title of vehicles. Professionals refuse to be sacrificed,” she states.
The third-largest pork producer within the EU, France depends on China, its first export market, to promote components which can be little consumed in its residence market (ears, ft…).
The Inaporc director is very afraid of a “downward value spiral” within the European market if Spain and the Netherlands, which export pork to China, must redirect among the volumes to the continent. (October 18, 2024)
