Cambridge Metropolis Councilor Joan Pickett has died following what the town described as a “transient sickness,” officers introduced on Saturday.
Pickett, sworn into workplace this previous January, died at age 69 on Friday.
“It’s with nice disappointment that we inform the Cambridge neighborhood of the sudden passing of Metropolis Councillor Joan Pickett, who handed away final night following a quick sickness,” the town posted on its social media accounts Saturday afternoon. “Councillor Pickett was a devoted public official & a revered member of the Cambridge neighborhood.
“We ask that you simply preserve Councillor Pickett’s household, associates & colleagues in your ideas throughout this troublesome time,” the town added.
Pickett turned sick in latest months earlier than being hospitalized over the summer season, lacking a particular Metropolis Council assembly on Aug. 5 and committee hearings because of the illness, associates and colleagues instructed the hyperlocal Cambridge Day on Saturday.
