IQALUIT, Nunavut –
Mounties in Nunavut have made an arrest within the homicide of a 15-year-old woman virtually 40 years in the past.
Mary Ann Birmingham was discovered useless in Frobisher Bay in what was then the Northwest Territories in Might of 1986.
Frobisher Bay later grew to become Iqaluit and is now the capital of Nunavut.
Police say an indictment was signed per week in the past and on Tuesday Jopey Atsiqtaq was arrested in Ottawa.
He appeared in courtroom Wednesday on a cost of second-degree homicide and has been remanded in custody.
He’s scheduled to be again in courtroom Oct. 29.
