China’s navy on Monday launched navy drills round Taiwan, calling the large-scale workouts a “stern warning to the separatist acts of Taiwan Independence forces.”
The workouts, code-named Joint Sword-2024B, are meant “to check the joint operations capabilities of the theater command’s troops,” China’s Protection Ministry mentioned in a press release. It didn’t say when the drills, which had been happening within the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, south and east of Taiwan, would conclude.
“With vessels and plane approaching Taiwan Island in shut proximity from completely different instructions, troops of a number of providers have interaction in joint drills, specializing in topics of sea-air combat-readiness patrol, blockade on key ports and areas, assault on maritime and floor targets, in addition to joint seizure of complete superiority,” mentioned Senior Capt. Li Xi, a spokesman for the Chinese language navy’s Japanese Theater Command.
