A professional-Palestinian scholar group at Columbia College introduced that its account was “completely banned” from Instagram.
In a put up on X, Columbia College students for Justice in Palestine defined that their account had been completely deleted when it reached “124k followers,” including that after they created a brand new account, “it was deleted” inside two days.
“As the varsity 12 months is nearly to start, Columbia SJP has been completely banned from Instagram,” the group wrote in its put up on Monday. “Our account was completely deleted at 124k followers similtaneously our backup account, and once we made a brand new web page it was deleted inside 2 days.”

When requested by an individual what the rationale was for his or her account being banned, the group shared a screenshot they’ve obtained from Instagram informing the group that their account was disabled. Instagram defined that the group couldn’t “request one other evaluation of this determination.”
“No purpose given,” the group wrote. “Simply that we can’t request one other evaluation. Similar factor occurred to Inside our Lifetime months in the past and so they nonetheless can’t make an Instagram web page with out being taken down in hours.”

This comes months after pro-Palestinian protesters established an anti-Israel encampment at Columbia College on April 17. The subsequent day, a number of college students concerned within the encampment had been suspended and a whole lot of protesters had been arrested.
