The plan to combine the southeastern metropolis of Daegu and surrounding North Gyeongsang Province has failed, the mayor of Daegu, Hong Joon-pyo, declared Tuesday.
Hong stated in a social media posting that “it might be arduous to anticipate consent from the provincial meeting of North Gyeongsang Province” for the proposed integration of the native governments.
The Daegu mayor had set a Wednesday deadline for his newest proposal, which requires the institution of unified provincial authorities places of work in Daegu, Andong and Pohang.
