Ben Doak was denied a shot at making his Scotland debut within the Euros as a result of damage, and his cheeky quip to John McGinn has earned him fairly the reward from the Aston Villa man.
The 18-year-old was loaned to the Championship’s Middlesbrough for the season to help in his growth, with, hopefully, common senior minutes to return his approach.
Doak featured in Liverpool’s pre-season, and regardless of having not performed competitively since December as a result of damage, Scotland supervisor Steve Clarke once more confirmed his religion within the teenager.
He’s in line to make his senior worldwide debut in both of Scotland’s matches this month towards Poland and Portugal, an opportunity that damage took from him on the Euros.
And Doak earned a fan in McGinn by how he addressed his absence and the truth that Scotland have been knocked out within the group levels.
“He cheered me up final evening,” the Aston Villa captain stated, as quoted by the Each day Report. “There was solely 5 or 6 of us that arrived as a result of quite a lot of the boys have been travelling and performed yesterday.
“We have been pertaining to the Euros, and he stated, ‘Aye, if I stayed match it may need been completely different!’
“That’s simply his character and it’s good. He’s acquired quite a lot of confidence, he’s giggle, and he’s fitted in properly.”
Confidence has been a notable trait amongst younger Liverpool gamers over time and it has all the time been clear that it’s not one thing Doak lacks.
The ahead has performed for Scotland’s U16s, U17s and U21s up to now, and there may be rising expectation for what he can supply the senior facet, even when he’s simply 18.

McGinn added: “I feel everybody’s conscious of his potential and he’s actually one thing completely different to what we’ve acquired. Hopefully, we are able to see that on Thursday (towards Poland).
“Even in coaching, he’s so explosive. Sheer tempo, energy, power. It’s actually one thing we’ve been lacking over the previous couple of seasons.
“He’s positively going to convey one thing completely different there and, hopefully, we are able to see. He’ll positively get supporters off their seats.”
