Greg Gumbel, a longtime CBS Sports activities broadcaster, has died of most cancers, his household stated Friday. He was 78.
Gumbel, a play-by-play announcer and studio host who beforehand labored for NBC Sports activities, “handed away peacefully surrounded by a lot love after a brave battle with most cancers,” his household stated in an announcement launched by CBS Sports activities.
The assertion was signed by his spouse, Michelle, and daughter, Marcy.
“Greg approached his sickness like one would count on he would, with stoicism, grace and positivity,” the assertion says. “He leaves behind “a legacy of affection, inspiration and dedication to over 50 extraordinary years within the sports activities broadcast business.”
