A Hong Kong courtroom has sentenced 45 main pro-democracy activists to as much as 10 years in jail in a landmark safety case as authorities stamp out dissent within the Chinese language territory.
Authorized scholar Benny Tai acquired 10 years in jail, the heaviest sentence. The courtroom, in its ruling on Tuesday, stated that Tai was a “principal offender” in organising an unofficial major election in 2020.
