The Worldwide Council on Monument and Websites (ICOMOS), a nongovernment physique that works to protect cultural heritage websites, has referred to as on the town of Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture to halt its redevelopment plans that may demolish newly-discovered Meiji Period (1868-1912) stays.
In a letter addressed to related authorities, ICOMOS President Teresa Patricio urged the town to droop excavations and building, and to start out discussions with consultants on how you can protect the 133-year-old stays of Moji Station.
“ICOMOS deeply regrets and is disillusioned by the town authority’s disregard for this cultural heritage of nationwide and worldwide significance,” Patricio wrote within the letter.
