The Israeli army mentioned Thursday it was checking whether or not its forces had killed Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, the alleged mastermind of the Oct. 7 assault that killed 1,200 Israelis and seized one other 250 as hostages.
If confirmed, Sinwar’s killing could be the end result of a yearlong hunt — involving Israeli and American spy businesses — for the Palestinian chief, who was believed to be hiding in Hamas’ underground community of tunnels in Gaza.
Sinwar turned Hamas’ political head after the August assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which was extensively attributed to Israel.
Israel’s army and the Shin Guess, Israel’s safety company, launched a joint assertion Thursday saying “three terrorists have been eradicated” throughout operations within the Gaza Strip. The assertion added that it was checking the id of one of many militants.
The assertion added “there have been no indicators of the presence of hostages within the space” and that the forces there “are persevering with to function with the required warning.”
The stays of the killed militant are reported to be present process DNA testing; samples shall be in comparison with Sinwar’s DNA collected throughout his incarceration in an Israeli jail.
There was no fast remark from Hamas.
