Shark Week 2017 started with a dud.
One may argue the weeklong tv occasion, which airs yearly on the Discovery Channel, is overrated to start with, though that’s neither right here nor there. The web was particularly hostile Sunday evening, although, when a supposed “race” between Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps and an ideal white shark turned out to be a whole waste of time.

Clearly, Phelps wasn’t going to simply leap into the water and race a shark. There are too many variables concerned — like, say, Phelps’ security — for that to go off and not using a hitch. However most viewers anticipated a cool visible — a glass barrier separating the 2, or one thing like that — and as an alternative had been left with a timed estimation, with Phelps going up in opposition to a computer-generated shark.
The entire thing was terrible, particularly given the build-up, and the Sharknado-esque “race” drew a complete bunch of unfavourable opinions on social media.
Seems “Michael Phelps races a shark” was actually simply “Michael Phelps swims alone after which compares his time to a shark’s time.”

smh Michael Phelps is not truly racing a shark. He is simply racing a simulation of a shark. Greatest rip-off of 2017
