On Oct. 11, 1984, NASA astronaut Kathryn Sullivan grew to become the primary lady to stroll in area. Sullivan, who had celebrated her thirty third birthday simply 8 days earlier than the spacewalk, carried out the history-making train as a part of the area shuttle Challenger mission STS-41G.
The mission blasted off on October 5 and ended on Oct. 13. Sullivan was a part of the primary seven-person crew throughout the mission, which was commanded by Robert Crippen and in addition included mission specialist David Leetsma, the latter of whom accompanied her on the three.5-hour spacewalk.
