A 19-year-old mom has been charged with homicide after her child died in a home fireplace in Toronto final week, police say.
Firefighters have been known as to the house on Trethewey Drive, simply north of Eglinton Avenue, shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 25.
Police mentioned the 19-year-old and her four-month-old daughter have been pulled from the residence. Photographs from the scene confirmed smoke billowing out of the home as firefighters climbed onto the roof.
Toronto Hearth mentioned a number of occupants of the house have been already outdoors after they had arrived.
Officers mentioned the child was rushed to the hospital with no important indicators and died on the hospital.
The mom, they add, was despatched to the hospital with severe accidents. Toronto Paramedic Companies mentioned they assessed 4 different sufferers on the scene.
On Thursday, Toronto police recognized the accused as Toronto-resident Kathrynn Quita Batugal, who can be going through an arson cost. A TPS spokesperson confirmed Batugal was the child’s mom. The fees haven’t been examined in courtroom.
