Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions are advancing on Kobani, a Kurdish-majority city on the Turkish border that emerged as an emblem of Kurdish nationalism in the course of the struggle in opposition to the Islamic State.
Properly-informed sources in northeast Syria confirmed to Al-Monitor that the factions, backed by Turkish air energy, had crossed the Karakozak bridge connecting the western financial institution of the Euphrates River to the jap aspect after fierce clashes.
The advance follows the autumn of the SDF-controlled city of Manbij on the western aspect of the river early Monday.
It is a growing story and might be up to date.
