PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — A high-ranking official with Haiti’s Nationwide Workplace of Migration was killed Wednesday within the north coastal metropolis of Cap-Haitien.
Kerwin Augustin, a regional consultant who oversaw Haiti’s northern area, was shot close to his home and died at a hospital, in accordance with a reporter from Radio Caraïbes who was on the scene.
The radio reported that Augustin was shot by unidentified individuals aboard a bike. It wasn’t instantly clear why he was killed.
Nobody has been arrested.
Excessive-profile killings are uncommon in Cap-Haitien, which is comparatively protected in contrast with the capital, Port-au-Prince, which is largely managed by gangs.
