Senator JD Vance (R-OH) stated Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that Donald Trump would veto a nationwide abortion ban if it had been handed in his second time period.
Host Kristen Welker stated, “It’s being talked about on the marketing campaign path, abortion. Democrats made the case this week and past this week that Donald Trump, if elected, will impose a federal ban on abortion. Donald Trump says he received’t, however are you able to commit, senator, sitting proper right here with me at present, that if you happen to and Donald Trump are elected that, you’ll not impose a federal ban on abortion?”
Vance stated, “I can completely commit that, Kristen. Donald Trump has been as clear about that as attainable. It’s essential to step again and say what has Donald Trump stated on the abortion query and the way is it completely different from what Kamala Harris and the Democrats have stated. Donald Trump needs to finish this tradition warfare on this explicit subject. If California needs to have a distinct abortion coverage than Ohio, then California has to respect Ohio, and Ohio has to respect California.”
Welker stated, “Senator Graham stated I’ll hold saying that there needs to be a federal ban. If such a chunk of laws landed on Donald Trump’s desk, would he veto it?”
Vance stated, “I’ll. He can be very clear; he won’t assist it.”
Welker stated, “Will he veto it?”
Vance stated, “Yeah, if you happen to’re not supporting it,”
Welker pressed, “So he would veto a federal abortion ban?”
Vance stated, “I believe he would. He stated explicitly that he would.”
