YAMAGUCHI, Sep 23 (Information On Japan) –
A gaggle of Humboldt penguins at Tokuyama Zoo in Yamaguchi Prefecture has captured individuals’s hearts, as they chase a butterfly that had by accident flown into their pool enclosure.
The playful scene, caught on video by a zookeeper, has since gone viral, displaying the penguins as they darted forwards and backwards between land and water in pursuit of the insect.
The zookeeper defined that the penguins’ curiosity within the butterfly is probably going resulting from their intuition to chase fast-moving objects, very similar to they do within the wild when searching fish. Although it could look like a playful interplay, the penguins’ conduct displays their pure searching tendencies, as they’re accustomed to catching fish like horse mackerel and sardines.
