The Revd Nontombi Tutu, episocopal priest and human rights activist, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will lead the inaugural Desmond Tutu Annual Memorial Lecture at York Minster on September 17.
In tribute to Desmond Tutu’s legacy of scholarly reflection and contemplation, the Desmond Tutu Centre for Faith and Social Justice on the College of Western Cape and United Society Companions within the Gospel (USPG) have established an annual Desmond Tutu Memorial Lecture on Faith and Social Justice.
The Very Revd Dominic Barrington, Dean of York, stated: “It’s an honour and delight to host the inaugural Desmond Tutu Annual Memorial Lecture at York Minster.
“Archbishop Tutu was a singular prophetic voice within the apartheid period of his native South Africa, with a legacy that lives on throughout the globe.
“In an age once we proceed to take heed to so many injustices that blight the lives of individuals close to and much, we’re delighted to welcome Revd Nontombi Tutu to coach and problem us on this first lecture in honour of her father’s work.”
The lecture is entitled ‘Fact, The Path to Reconciliation’.
Revd Nontombi will purpose to deepen comprehension and encourage motion in direction of dismantling oppressive constructions and nurturing simply communities.
