I recently tried an amazing egg preparation technique that blew my mind!
You pour the egg mixture into a swirling vortex of water, letting it bloom and blossom. Once scooped out, the egg is tender, silky, fluffy, with just a hint of salt and no oil.
This gentle egg is then layered with crispy bacon and succulent crab sticks to create a luxurious sandwich, drizzled with sauce for an explosion of flavors in every bite.
Ingredients:
- Eggs
- Salt
- Bacon
- Bread
- Lettuce
- Cheese slices
- Crab sticks
- Mayonnaise
Preparation Method:
Eggs in a Whirlpool:
Beat 3 eggs into a liquid, adding 1/4 teaspoon of salt. In a small pot, bring water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Use a whisk to stir the water into a fast-moving vortex. Pour in the egg mixture, turn off the heat, and let it sit for 5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to gently lift out the eggs, allowing excess water to drain.
Crispy Bacon:
Place 3 slices of bacon into a hot pan and cook over medium heat for 1 minute on each side until crispy and fully cooked.
Sandwich Assembly:
Fold toasted bread slices in half and place them into a paper sandwich box. Layer with 1 leaf of lettuce, 1 slice of cheese, 3 slices of bacon, and half of the water-poached egg.
Crab Stick Prep:
Use a fork to shred the crab sticks into thin strands.
Finishing Touches:
Drizzle mayonnaise in a zigzag pattern over the top of the sandwich, and sprinkle with a small handful of chopped parsley.
